THE FIELDS OF HEALTH AND FITNESS, AND THE WORLD OF INVESTING HAVE A LOT OF PARALLELS.

The fields of Health and Fitness, and the world of Investing have a lot of parallels.

"Take a simple idea and take it seriously" - Charlie Munger (96-year-old Billionaire and Hall of Fame Investor).

Complicated 'opportunities' that guarantee quick results rarely pan out.

Flashy programs and celebrity diets that promise a 6-pack by the end of the month are likely to leave you worse off for having tried them.

So, if fitness is your goal, where do you invest your attention?

Step 1: Give yourself an audit

  • Take stock of where you are now.
  • Figure out where you want to go.
  • Take stock of your resources
    - energy
    - time
    - money
    - knowledge
    - motivation

Step 2: Look for simple actions that actually lead to results over time.

  • Invest in what works.
  • Play the long game.
  • Estimate an earnings range for five years out or more.

Step 3: Perform those actions consistently and with purpose, for months or years.

  • The benefit of these simple actions will compound over time.
    Examples:
    - Training 2-4 times a week.
    - Getting 7-8 hours of sleep a night.
    - Eating 3 square meals a day.
    - These are simple ideas worth taking seriously.

They sound boring, but they yield a huge return.

Sleeping on one of these and looking for the next big fad in fitness is like stepping over 20 dollar bills to pick up nickles.
