A FEW RELAXATION STRATEGIES.
With so many of us living a go go go life, it can be hard to find ways to slow down, relax and unwind. Stress can build up and grow, often leaving us feeling overwhelmed. Many of us find refuge at the gym and rely on fitness and the community at Madlab for our mental health. But those hard workouts you love might be adding more stress to an already stressed-out body.
It’s important to find ways to relax and unwind which is just as vital to your mental health as an intense workout. Here are a few of my go-to relaxation strategies.
Time alone – Getting time alone can be challenging for some, especially if you are a busy parent or live with others. Sometimes just spending a few extra minutes alone in the car when you get home or to work can be so refreshing before you jump back into the hustle and bustle of life. Take a bath, read a book; however you spend your time alone is up to you.
Go for a walk – A walk, especially in nature, can be so relaxing. Try a walk on your lunch break at work or after dinner with the family. Get some fresh air and sunlight to feel more refreshed and relaxed.
Colouring – This can be a perfect way to unwind. Colouring in the lines of a colouring book allows our minds to focus on the activity, takes your attention away from yourself and life and allows you to be present. A great way to relax your brain for a bit.
Listening to music – A great way to escape and unwind. Whatever you like to listen to, put your headphones on and block out outside noise and just be in the moment.
